Nigerian lady who dumped journalism to become naval officer shares experience (Read)

A Nigerian lady identified as “Veronica Effiong” has said she has had an amazing journey as a naval officer since she left journalism to join the Nigerian Navy. "(Veronica) says she left journalism to become a naval officer and that it has been an amazing journey so far."

“According to Legit.ng, “Veronica Effiong” took to her LinkedIn account to reflect on the career-changing decision she took a year ago.”

“Effiong” said she had an amazing career in broadcasting for seven years but the Nigerian military has always held a funny mystery to her.

She wrote on LinkedIn: "The Nigerian military has always held a funny mystery to me, in that I find it easy to see more men in the military than women, I began my research on it and surely I found some interesting things."

"Apparently, In the military, there are only 3 women out of 10 people. Just 3! (that is fast changing I must say)."

According to her, she told herself that she had to be among the 3%. She added: "That was the turning point for me. Along with my flair for a more adventurous journey, a great broadcasting career, and my desire to be among the 3 of 10, I made the decision to switch careers. "I went through the necessary training and now I’m a proud officer of the Nigerian Navy." The naval officer also said women in the military are not emotionless as it is claimed, adding that they also want to be loved, pampered and take care of like every other woman.
