Nigerian social media big boy, Ramon Igbalode Abass aka "Hushpuppi", has reportedly secured the services of a top Chicago criminal defence lawyer.
It is no longer news that one Ramon Igbalode Abass, a 37 year-old
Nigerian also known as “Hushpuppi”
was arrested by the FBI in Dubai in June 2020.
“Hushpuppi” who is known for his lavish
lifestyle as displayed on social media was arrested alongside 10 others for
their involvement in N168 billion fraud. “The heist was called Fox Hunt.”
Legit.ng earlier reported that Hushpuppi was
extradited to the US alongside one of his alleged accomplices, Woodberry.
“According to Legit reports, “Hushpuppi” is likely to be transferred
to Los Angeles in coming weeks and he is said to have hired a top Chicago
criminal lawyer to guide him through the process.”
“Hushpuppi” reportedly hired Gal
Pissetzky of Pissetzky & Berliner.
“Hushpuppi’s” removal process seems to
have made it difficult for him to enter a plea deal.
“According to Premium Times, his plea might
not be taken and he may not be entitled to bail until his transfer to Los
Angeles.”
“Pissetzky” is likely to counsel “Hushpuppi” on his transfer to Los
Angeles but it is still not known whether he would go along with him once it
happens.”
“Hushpuppi” is currently being held at
the Metropolitan Correctional Centre (MCC) in Chicago and out of curiosity many
are wondering what the holding facility looks like.
“According to the description on the official
website of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the correctional facility was
established in 1930 for the purpose of providing progressive and humane care
for federal inmates.”
“The MCC has a mix of male and female
offenders with the total number of inmates currently at 567. At the moment, all
visiting to the prison has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.”
